Jefferson Academy PTO Meeting Minutes
Wednesday September 12th 7:30 – 8:40
Those in attendance were: Erin Taylor, Sydney Bowman, Traci McClean, Amy Oswald, Chelsea Smith,
Shawna Wichtoski, Britney Johnson, Alivia Burgess, Beth Thomas
Welcome: Erin Taylor, PTO President
Copy Room Rules: In the copy room, we have our own box to put in copy requests. Fill out the form that
is there and BE SPECIFIC! They will not copy any thing if they have a question. If you want it copied onto
a specific color, provide that with your form. Erin suggested putting your phone number on the paper,
so they can contact you directly if they have any questions.
Communication: All communication to the school must go through Erin first. Send handouts to Erin for
approval and then they will be forwarded on to Christy Carlson in the office.
Literacy: We will work on setting up a meeting with Kristi Harris to answer questions. Dad’s and Donuts
will be October 24th and the first Book Fair will be November 5th – 8th .
Carnival/Harvest Party: We are doing Root Beer with dry ice and donuts as a treat – talk to Smith’s
about getting a discount on the food. We will possibly do some form of food drive and ask for a can of
food for admissions. Kourtney is going to work with Amelia Hale and the Student Council and see if they
will help and do some booths. For the pumpkin walk, we will line the pumpkins around the walking path.
As pumpkins are dropped off we will hand out tickets. One ticket will have the number of the pumpkin
so that they can come pick it up later. The other ticket will be entered into a drawing. All who participate
with a pumpkin will be entered into the drawing. There will also be voting for the best pumpkin.
Teacher Appreciation: Amy and Alivia have divided their committee into doors and dinner for teacher
conferences. Amy will send out a paper to the teachers 2-3 weeks before Parent/Teacher Conferences
to get teachers food preferences. Soups and salads seem to be the best ways to accommodate
everyone’s needs. They are also making sugar scrubs for all the teachers as their Christmas gift. They
were able to get free containers from Davis Hospital.
Fundraising: Fundraising will consist of Pay to Dress Down Days, Chick-fil-a night (possibly), merchandise
and Yearbook sales. Shawna Wichtoski is willing to help if needed.
Teacher Newsletter: We are now sending out our own newsletter every month. It will include
information for teachers on the events we have coming up and what is expected of them for those
activities. There will be a PTO spotlight as well. You will be notified when it is your month for a spotlight.
Write 2-3 paragraphs about yourself and send it to Erin.
Events Update: The meeting with Keith and Nicole went well. All our events this year will stay the same
except a few. Nicole and Amelia Hale will be taking over Safety Week as it is considered curriculum. They
will also oversee the 6th grade activities at the end of the year (kickball game).
Next Meeting: October 10th 7pm in the library
1425 S Angel Street, Kaysville, UT 84037
