Welcome: Erin Taylor, PTO President
Thank You! Everyone at the school has been appreciative of all the work that the PTO has done this
year. Thank you all for you hard work!
Fun Run: The Fun Run this year was awesome! Erin received lots of compliments. Thank you to Chelsea
for all the hard work she put into it. We grossed $42,356.94 and after Boosterathon's cut we made $31,717.20, which is enough for the playground and then some. Erin wants to try and focus on doing more service next year so having the extra money from the Fun Run will help us to do that.
Playground: Everything for the playground is set in place. Mrs. Drake’s son will be at the school on May
30 th to cut up sod for his Eagle Scout project. On Thursday May 31 st at 9 am we will be moving the sod.
Bring trucks to haul it away – it’s free. Monday June 11 th at 6 pm we will be spreading the woodchips so
bring a rake to help. Anyone who volunteers on either of these dates will 15 volunteer hours towards
PTO: We are looking for ways to show people what we do on the PTO and ways to make PTO fun. Ideas
were to have a PTO open house to show people what it’s all about and pictures from past events at Back
to School Night.
Volunteering: On the 24 th of May Robin will be drawing winners for baskets. She is planning on doing 2
or 3 smaller baskets instead of 1 big basket like last year. The dress down passes for completing hours
will be cut off on the 16 th . Kristi Harris is interested in the Volunteer Chair position for next year and will
be meeting with Robin.
Teacher Appreciation: Alivia did an amazing job this year with Teacher Appreciation! She made the
activities geared toward the students showing appreciation towards their teachers vs the PTO showing
appreciation. Monday they had a Chick-fil-a luncheon and were given flower pots. Tuesday they were
given gardening gloves, shovel and seeds. Wednesday the students were asked to bring a flower for
their teacher and Erin and Alivia sold flowers for $1 outside. They also make thank you flowers and trees
with the students fingerprints for each teacher. Thursday they had peanut butter bars and veggie trays.
Friday they delivered the fingerprint trees to each teacher and were also given Erin’s homemade salsa
Field Day: Britney has been working with Mrs. Williams and Erin to plan an awesome field day! There
will be 8 stations: Dartside obstacle, kickball, Angry Birds, Spikeball, spongeball, RSL booth/station and
ice cream station. Kids will wear certain color shirts so that they know which grades are at Field Day and
which are at recess. There will be 2 shifts of volunteers: one from 8:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30. There will
be 2 volunteers per station and a few extra just in case.
The 6 th grade kickball tournament has been put on hold due to other grades being interested in playing.
Erin is working out the logistics of this. On the morning of Field Day the 6 th graders will be painting
murals on the sidewalk/pavement as a way to say Goodbye to Jefferson.
