Those in attendance were: Sydney Bowman, Cassi Todd, Traci McClean, Erin Taylor, Shawna Wichtoski,
Ashley Yates, Alivia Burgess, Janell Draper, Aubree Clark, Amy Oswald
Welcome: Amy Oswald, PTO President
Changes and PTO Meetings: The PTO will be doing Book Fair, teacher dinners, Teacher Appreciation
week and Fun Run. The school has chosen to take on (if their budget allows): mom’s and muffins and
Literacy – Book Fair: Friday set up will start at 8:30, but tables won’t be available for use until 10 due to
the 4th grade county fair. Monday is the teacher appreciation event where they will be able to spend the
$150 scholastic dollars they were given at Christmas time. They may also order from the catalog, but
their orders must be in before the close of Book Fair. Volunteer spots were not filled up which has led to
other PTO board members filling in.
Fun Run: Britney and Amy will be meeting with the Fun Run people soon. Money earned from the Fun
Run will be going towards shades for the playground and if there is any extra it will go towards field trips
for next year.
Playground Happenings: The new playground and monkey bar areas flooded during the heavy rain in
January. The property management wants to pull out all the wood chips, add a drain and gravel and
then put the wood chips back in. We aren’t sure when this will happen, but Amy asked them to keep her
How to fill spots: Ideas were to send out a flyer thanking everyone for helping us put on the activities
we have so far, but also showing what has been cut due to lack of volunteers. We will also be putting up
a “help wanted” poster during Parent-Teacher Conferences in hopes of getting some of our empty board
Play Idea: Janelle has shown interest in doing a school play. Ballpark idea on a budget would be $300-
$500, costumes will be the most expensive part. The running title is “1776 vs. 2019” and the idea would
be that Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson come and visit the school. This will probably happen next
year and will need a committee to head it up.
Next Meeting: March 13th @ 7pm in the Library. This is the meeting where positions are voted on. The
meeting is mandatory. Amy is also trying to plan a meeting with Nicole and some teachers before this
meeting so that we can get their input and ideas.
