Jefferson Academy PTO Board Meeting Minutes
October 8th, 2020

Drive by in Disguise: After much discussion of the current circumstances it was decided to cancel the event
Black Island Farms: Friday, October 9th – Opens at 4:00 pm.
Box Tops: Our fall Box Tops collection has started and will go through the 29th October. Elisha will be hanging up posters. The competition will be done by grade. The winning grade will get a prize which will be handed out the first/second week in November. We want to work on encouraging the app for Box Tops to help increase our Box Tops earnings.
Book Fair: The theme for the fall Book Fair is Book Fair Time Machine: Reading Can Take You Anywhere!
It will be located in the gymnasium November 2nd through the 5tt. We are encouraging cashless payment. We will be following all social distancing guidelines. Due to the restriction on volunteers, Mrs. Jones has asked the Executive Board and one to two more volunteers to handle Book Fair. Temperatures will be taken, and masks will need to be worn at all times. A volunteer sign-up will be sent out the week after fall break with limited spots. Student preview will be done one class at a time. The students will need to wear masks and hand sanitize upon entering and leaving the book fair. It will be more window type shopping with less hands on. Cassi will be working on flyers to get them sent out the week of the 19th October. Book Fair and Teacher Appreciation will team up to deliver a small treat to the teachers with their book fair packet. The online book fair will be opened 24th October through 7th November. Orders can be shipped directly to your house.
Veteran’s Day: Veteran’s Day is on November 12th. Veteran’s Day will be a bit different this year. It is going to be more virtual. The Candy drive and Honor Wall will still be done. Ms. Stinger is working on songs with the students. A video will be created and viewed in each classroom. Each grade will be doing an activity in which will be hung up in the halls. Terra will be getting flyers sent out the week of the 19th October.
Teacher Appreciation & Parent-Teacher Conferences: Parent Teacher Conferences will be on November 4th & 5th. There will be some type of meal/snacks for the teachers. Shawna will be sending out sign-up’s for donations.
Winter Wreath Fundraiser: Green Ridge Christmas Trees has a fundraiser selling various wreaths. Every wreath that is sold the PTO would profit $10. There was a vote taken by those who attended. The vote was anonymous to go through with the fundraiser. More information to come.
Spirit-Wear: The order has been placed for the new spirit-wear. It should arrive the first week of November.
Fun Run: Please keep your eyes and ears opened for possible sponsors!
